Wide-mouth plastic containers should preferably be used.<\/p>\n<p>Request:<\/p>\n<p>On the SESC website there is a specific form for inquiries that include samples for laboratory analysis. It contains a section with fields to identify the samples and the conditions in which they are submitted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identification of the samples (No. carcass, DIB, etc &#8230;)<\/li>\n<li>Organs \/ tissues shipped<\/li>\n<li>Status of samples (chilled \/ frozen \/ in formalin)<\/li>\n<li>Analysis requested<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once the form has been filled out and sent, the system will automatically send a confirmation email to the applicant. It is advisable to print this email and attach it to the samples sent.<\/p>\n<p>In the event that the slaughterhouse does not have internet, an application, duly completed, in paper format must be attached to the samples sent (Annex 2).<\/p>\n<p>Sample submission:<\/p>\n<p>SESC will manage the analysis of the samples received at CReSA, sending them to the different diagnostic services that collaborate with CReSA or to CReSA&#8217;s own laboratories, if applicable:<\/p>\n<div id=\"accordion\">\n<h3 class=\"toggler\">&#8211; UAB Veterinary Faculty Pathology diagnostic service (SDPV).<\/h3>\n<div class=\"element\">\n<p>The SDPV offers a pathological diagnosis service.<\/p>\n<p>The basic activities of this service are the diagnosis of biopsies and cytologies, the performance and diagnosis of autopsies and, sporadically, evaluations of clinical studies of different pharmacological products:<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Biopsies<\/strong>: a biopsy is understood to be a fragment of a tissue or organ that has just been separated (excision) from a living being for microscopic study. It is a good method of basically diagnostic study and, to a lesser extent, it can also have a prognostic value. In veterinary medicine it is used mainly in the specialties of Dermatology, Oncology, Internal Medicine (gastroenterology, nephrology, hepatology &#8230;) and Gynecology (equidae).<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Cytologies<\/strong>: they are defined as the study and evaluation of the cells existing inside the body cavities, cells from different organic surfaces or from solid tissues or organs, all obtained by means of needle aspiration techniques and smears or imprinting on slides . They are especially indicated in affections of lymph nodes, bone marrow, exudates \/ transudates in body cavities (hydrothorax, ascites, etc.), nodular or cystic skin lesions, cerebrospinal fluid, urinary sediments, etc.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong> Necropsies<\/strong>: it is the systematic, orderly and complete examination of a corpse in order to investigate the cause or causes of death. It is a very useful diagnostic procedure in terms of veterinary practice and it has multiple advantages, among which we can mention:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Epidemiological control<\/li>\n<li>Therapeutic and toxicological control<\/li>\n<li>Control of clinical performance<\/li>\n<li>Forensic diagnosis<\/li>\n<li>Means of claim in the sale of animals<\/li>\n<li>Research Technique<\/li>\n<li>Assistance to the conservation of wild and \/ or protected species<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toggler\">&#8211; Bacteriology and Mycology service , UAB Veterinary Faculty<\/h3>\n<div class=\"element\">\n<p><strong>Microbiology<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clinical microbiology: Bacteriological and mycological culture. Antibiogram.<\/li>\n<li>Food microbiology: Analysis of contamination indicators.<\/li>\n<li>Specific investigation of the presence of certain bacteria (Campylobacter, Salmonella, Listeria &#8230;).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mycology<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Isolation and identification of mycelial fungi and yeasts<\/li>\n<li>Mycotoxin detection and quantification<\/li>\n<li>Investigation of contaminating fungi in industrial products<\/li>\n<li>Investigation of fungi involved in the development and \/ or improvement of products<\/li>\n<li>Evaluation of the efficacy of products with antifungal activity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toggler\">&#8211; Infectious diseases veterinary diagnostic Laboratory (LvdMI). Coli<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toggler\">&#8211; Molecular Genetics Veterianry Service (SVGM), UAB Veterinary Faculty<\/h3>\n<div class=\"element\">\n<p>The Veterinary Service of Molecular Genetics (SVGM) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is a leading center of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in animal genomics that offers its experience in this field, both to public institutions and to private and professional companies. SVGM activity is based on genetic analysis techniques developed and implemented in our laboratory (real-time quantitative PCR, large-scale genotyping and DNA sequencing).<\/p>\n<p>Among the services they offer, we highlight the identification of microorganisms by sequencing (16s RNA).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toggler\">&#8211; Parasitology Laboratory, UAB Veterinary Faculty<\/h3>\n<div class=\"element\">\n<p>The Parasitology laboratory has an external diagnostic service where samples can be sent for the detection and identification of parasites.
