{"id":5251,"date":"2015-03-24T11:52:06","date_gmt":"2015-03-24T10:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sesc.cat\/chronic-peritonitis-in-calves\/"},"modified":"2024-11-05T15:11:09","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T14:11:09","slug":"chronic-peritonitis-in-calves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sesc.cat\/en\/chronic-peritonitis-in-calves\/","title":{"rendered":"Chronic peritonitis in calves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a carcass of an eleven-month-old cross-breed male calf, reddish lesions were observed on the serous surfaces of the different abdominal viscera.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>These lesions correspond to a <strong>fibrous or fibro-adhesive peritonitis<\/strong>. This is clearly a <strong>chronic <\/strong> lesion. Probably a result of an old fibrinous peritonitis. It may be the sequel to poliserositis due to a systemic neonatal bacteremia (colibacillosis or streptococcus) or infection of the umbilical cord (the lesions in these cases are more severe on the ventral part).<\/p>\n<p>These lesions may also occur as a result of viscera perforation such as the abomasum, the intestines, the reticle (<a href=\"https:\/\/sesc.cat\/chronic-fibrino-hemorrhagic-pericarditis-in-a-calf\/?lang=en\">traumatic reticuloperitonitis<\/a>) or the uterus.
