The inspector who sent the samples was curious to know what was that <strong>strange rat-tailed larvae <\/strong>and wether\u00a0it could be a parasite.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>CReSA entomologists confirmed that these rat-tailed maggots corresponded to dipteran larvae of a fly known as &#8220;<strong>Drone\u00a0Fly<\/strong>&#8221; \u00a0(<em>Eristalis tenax<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>This bee-like flies\u00a0do not transmit any disease, but rather are beneficial pollinators.
