{"id":5317,"date":"2016-06-20T16:51:02","date_gmt":"2016-06-20T15:51:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sesc.cat\/b-cell-leukemia-in-a-pig-carcass\/"},"modified":"2022-04-20T19:49:14","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T18:49:14","slug":"b-cell-leukemia-in-a-pig-carcass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sesc.cat\/en\/b-cell-leukemia-in-a-pig-carcass\/","title":{"rendered":"B cell leukemia in a pig carcass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a male, cross-breed, 6 months old\u00a0pig carcass the inspectors observed a change in the color of the vertebrae and sternum accompanied by a loss of consistency of the bone marrow.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The histopathological study evidenced a neoplastic proliferation of round cells that occupied almost all the space in the bone marrow.<\/p>\n<p>The immunopositivity of neoplastic cells to CD20 marker is indicative of a B cell population. This marker is not present in plasma cells, so we can rule out a plasmacitoma or a myeloma. The most appropriate diagnosis in this case is a <strong>B cell leukemia<\/strong>. Lymphoma is discarded because no tumors were observed in other organs or extramedular infiltration.
