Abdominal mass in a 3 years old sow
The mass was hard and had a dark brownish colouration, when cut lighter coloured areas were observed. Adjacent to the mass an enlarged lymph node was noticed.
Histopathologically the mass consisted of necrotic spleen and adipous tissue debris along with the presence of cholesterol crystals. No immflamatory reaction was observed.
The cause of this lesion cannot be determined but it probably occurred due to a torsion and necrosis of epiplon and adipous tissue along with a spleen torsion.
