Disseminated nodular lesion in the thoracic cavity of a pig

The nodules measured between 0.5 and 2 cm in diameter and, when sectioned, looked similar to adipose tissue.

Macroscopically tuberculosis should be included in the differential diagnosis, particulalry if caseification was seen in the center of the lesions. Another option would be a neoplasia such as liposarcoma or mesothelioma.

In this case the histopathological study revealed a sarcomatous undifferentiated neoplastic proliferation so the cellular origin could not be determined. The presence of granulomatous lesions was ruled out.
