Liver lobe torsion in a rabbit carcass
In a male, 60-day-old, hybrid breed rabbit carcass, one of the liver lobes showed an increase in size and a pale coloration with a deposit of fibrinous material on the capsule.
The histopathological study showed coagulation necrosis of the liver parenchyma. It is a lesion compatible with a torsion of the liver's lobe with the corresponding ischemic necrosis of hepatocytes due to blood vessel occlusion. The lesion presented an important fibrous and mineralization component that indicated its chronicity.
