A new case of lymphoma in a porcine carcass

The case consisted of a 2-3 years old sow with multiple, whitish, nodular lesions in the kidneys and the liver. The latter was considerably enlarged.

This neoplasm can be sporadic or familiar, if associated to a recessive autosomal mutation. It can be detected from the age of two months and the affected animal's mean survival time is of 4 to 6 months. Most of the cases are diagnosed at the abattoir.

The typical lesions are:

  • Widespread enlargement of lymph nodes (particularly the mesenteric).
  • Splenomegaly.
  • Multifocal renal lesions are frequent (particulary in the sporadic form).
  • Hepatomegaly.
  • The stomach and intestines can also be involved.

En aquest cas es va realitzar una immunohistoquimica per a CD3 que va resultar positiva.
Es classifica, per tant, com a limfoma de cèl·lules T.
