In a 12-month-old calf, multifocal dark reddish spots distributed dorsally, especially in the diaphragmatic lobes, are observed.

Thanks for sharing. The distribution of the lesion (caudal and dorsal) seems usual for aspiration, unless the patient is in dorsal recumbency during the slaughter? Aspiration of blood when sternal I would expect cranioventral distribution and especially involvement of the right cranial lobe. The gross image looks more like ecchymoses.
This is the typical image of blood aspiration for halal culled cattle. the blood enters the airways during agonic spasms, which explains the distribution not being cranioventral (gravity driven), also blocking some airways and preventing lung collapse.
Bé, m’he equivocat en posar el nom, però ja volia posar que era per aspiració de sang en el moment del sacrifici. I, és clar, és evident que no hi ha pneumònia, sinó simplement que la sang s’ha aspirat. És una lesió bastant freqüent.
