Skin lesions on the face of a kid
The lesions were found on the lips, around the eyes, ears and on the face skin. Meat inspectors suspected of Contagious ecthyma.
Histopathology evidenced lesions compatible with chronic dermatophytosis with the presence of fungal elements in the hair follicles.
Fungal infection by dermatophytes or ringworm is a zoonosis.
Microbiological culture allowed the isolation and identification of Tricophyton verrucosum.
The differential diagnosis of these lesions includes Contagious ecthyma, mange and Goat pox (poxvirus).
