Samples were submitted from a 3-month-old, male, free-range chicken carcass with wattle swelling that, on sectioning, showed caseous contents inside.

Canal de pollastre de pagès amb inflamació de la barbeta.

Des de l'aspecte ventral s'observa que la lesió és unilateral.

From the ventral aspect it is observed that the lesion is unilateral.

En seccionar la barbeta apareix material caseós de color groguenc.

When sectioning the wattle, yellowish caseous material appears.

The observed lesions correspond to focal chronic deep cellulitis and are compatible with a chronic case of fowl cholera (Pasteurella multocida infection, it is a zoonosis). Although in this case it was not possible to isolate this infectious agent. The most typical presentation is that of an animal with the entire face inflamed.

    I am very happy to see that this kind of website exists. It’s nice. Kindly upload more of the diagnosis related to poultry if possible on daily basis.
